This sketch illustrates a new kind of community that a lot of kids engage in almost every day. It won’t make the youth group announcements or the church bulletin, but kids connect regularly via online messaging without parents or youth workers even knowing. A lot has been said about the dangers of the internet and chat rooms, but a lot of kids use both in healthy ways. This sketch simply takes a typical IM conversation and plays it out in a real physical environment. It’s a window into a world many adults know nothing about.
