What Makes a Script a Crosspoint Script?

At Crosspoint we publish short (mostly 4-7 minute) Christian church drama scripts designed to intrigue. We intend them for use in churches, both in Youth Ministry, and in worship services. We publish Christian drama scripts that are simple to learn and produce, but not simplistic.  We don't think the Christian life is "as simple as that."  We stay away from obvious answers and well-worn insider terminology. We don't think Christians should be mocked for their failures and weaknesses, so we don't do sarcastic scripts that continually unmask hypocrisy.

In short, our scripts aim to be simple and complex.  Simple to stage, but nuanced in terms of the complexity of life.  For example, let's say a dad is failing as a father.  It's easy to write a script that attacks his failures and unmasks his workaholism.  The harder thing is to capture both sides of that situation.  Sure, he's wrong to work so much.  But he has a point of view too that makes sense, in some way, to him.  You can't just use a script to hammer people if you're out to intrigue them.  You have to demonstrate some understanding of their flawed lives, but with a level of understanding and hope.  That's what we're after with a Christian drama script by Crosspoint Scripts.  We're out to have the audience see a drama in church and think to themselves, "That's it.  That's the rub.  I've felt like that."

But besides producing Christian drama scripts that are audience-oriented, we also care about doctrine.  We write scripts for a broad church audience, but we do so with a clear conviction about scriptural authority.  You may not always agree with us.  We try not to be brash or authoritarian, but we do acknowledge timeless truths that are not up for debate.  We hold to the ancient orthodox creeds of the church, within a broad evangelical context.  While not affiliated with any particular denomination, we have drama subscribers from Catholic, Mainline Protestant, Anabaptist, and Evangelical backgrounds.  Feel free to address any particular doctrinal concern to dmcclellan@crosspointscripts.com.
